The Ton’s Fall 2018 Release Hop

Welcome to The Ton’s Fall 2018 Release blog hop!

For this release, The Ton has debuted 11 new stamps and a new pop up floral die. There are free gifts with purchase promotions also! There’s also a little surprise for today since it is World Cardmaking Day. Head over to The Ton’s blog for more details.

BLIZZARD HUGS

The new Blizzard Hugs Stamp Set stole my heart. There cannot be many snowflakes stamps in general. But this one is something special!

I really love the “negative” design of these snowflakes. There are several in the set of different sizes. You can use them for many design. The set also has stamps to make the snowflake  centers. I didn’t used them this time as really really loved the negative look.

Onto a kraft card base I made a woodgrain background using incredible set from The Ton – Buildable Woodgrain using Dark Roast and Aspen Cocoa Dye Inks. This set isn’t from this release, it was released earlier this year I believe. But I still want to bring attention to it. Because – BUILDABLE WOODGRAIN! If you like wood – you have to check it out. Look how realistic woodgrain design you can get!

After that I white embossed several snowflakes and the sentiment onto the card. This card was very easy to make and happened to end up one-layer one (doesn’t happen to be often).

I have a sweet spot in my heart for woodgrain, and even sweeter – for white embossing on wood. So I like very much how this card turned out.

GARDENIA WISHES

As as mentioned before – there cannot be many snowflakes stamps. The same (or even more) is applied to flower stamps. For my next card I used very beautiful Gardenia Wishes Stamp Set. This set has a gorgeous gardenia bouquet perfect for coloring.

I white embossed the bouquet onto a watercolor paper and watercolored it. As i often do when watercolor – the first layer I did in wet on wet technique. Let Dry. And then added details in wet on dry technique. In this case by “details” I mean messy shadows 🙂

After that I fussy cut the bouquet using scissors.

I made a panel out of a kraft cardstock and added some white splatters onto it. Followed by foam mounting the bouquet on top.

It’s a big bigger than an A2 card and I didn’t want to trim its edges for the card size. Instead I trimmed the leaves in the top left and bottom right corners and adhered them flat onto the card, tucking under the popped bouquet. It added some interest by having them on different layers and allowed me to fit it onto the card.

I finished off the card by adding a sentiment white embossed on black.
