Altenew | Dual Toned Design with Garden Treasure

Altenew Garden Treasure, white on two toned background. Card by Svitlana Shayevich

Hello, friends!

When it comes to choosing a color scheme for a card design I tend to choose unusual, or non-traditional if you will, combinations. But usually, I apply them to the card’s main elements (which most of the times are flowers). This time I decided to try something else and played with the background, leaving the flowers white.

So I started by cutting a panel out of a Solar White Cardstock and blending the Deep Iris Dye Ink onto the bottom part of it and Ocean Waves Dye Ink onto the top one.

To be honest, when I was blending these inks onto the panel I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. I was just trying. And when I finished blending, I was just wowed. What a mesmerizing color wave!

Next, I added some splatters onto the background using the Pure White Ink Spray.

Then I stamped several elements from the Garden Treasure Stamp Set onto a Solar White Cardstock using the Deep Iris Dye Ink and die-cut them with the matching dies. Also, I die-cut the sentiment out of a Solar White Cardstock using the Miss You Die.

I adhered all elements onto the panel, which I then foam mounted onto a white card base. Lastly, I added several Snow Crystals.

This design is relatively quick and very simple and can be easily reproduced in any other color scheme.

Svitlana, you have just given me such a great way to create new backgrounds to my dies. I love my floral dies but sometimes I feel that the detail in them is lost by the inks, markers used to give them colour but by giving the background the colour and then stamping the floral images in the same colour ink outline you get the impression that the floral image is coloured. I don’t know if it is an ‘eye trick’ or what or whether it is just me. If it is just me, I love it! TFS :O) xxx
