Hi friends!
Happy Monday! Maybe combining these two words in one sentence isn’t a good idea though. I’m learning to enjoy any day of week, no matter if it’s Friday or Monday. Well … of course Friday always will be the best and no therapy will ever change it lol. But other than that any days of a week are good. I hate that sometimes I’m waiting for this week to be over, for this summer to be over (I’m a fall-winter person) and so on. Life is too short already, without making it even shorter by only living certain days of week or certain seasons. Also I’m suffering from a cruel Sunday anxiety and treating Monday as a good thing helps me to handle this.
The only question is why do I write about this lol? This is me – I can make a 10 minutes talk out of “Happy Monday” phrase.
Anyways, today I want to share a couple of fun cards featuring Spellbinders stamps and die sets. These cards are not really my style, too playful and colorful I’d say. Just decided to try something new as I felt that was stuck in a rut a bit. And while this can be hard to avoid in other areas of life the last thing I want to have it in the crafting area. Although I should say that I had so much fun making these cards and now I want to make so more and maybe even consider having them as my regulars. Will see ;)
Both cards are made in the same manner. Images are colored with COPIC markers, backgounds were made with Oxide Inks.
ALL YOU KNEED IS LOVE
For this card I used fun set of stamps and dies – Flour Power.
First I stamped and die-cut several elements: a flour jar, rolling, pin, pie pieces, several hearts. Then I colored them with COPICs and added highlights with a white pen. The jar, pie and rolling pin are obvious objects. Hearts I colored like heart shaped cookies with white frosting.
I blended the Candied Apple Oxide Ink onto a white panel and Broken China Oxide Ink onto a wide white stripe. Then I added some water splatters using the Distress Sprayer, let the water react with the oxide inks and blotted off the water.
Next I rounded two corners of both with the 1/4″ corner chomper.
The sentiment was white embossed onto the panel, which then got foam mounted onto a white card base. The blue stripe in turn was foam mounted onto the red panel.
I adhered all elements onto the card and added several clear sequins to finish it off.
TOAST TO THE HAPPY COUPLE
The next card was made using the Toast With Jam’N Bread Stamp And Die Set. It was made in the same manner.
I stamped the toaster, colored it with COPICs, added white pen highlights and die-cut using the matching die. This die also cuts a slit where would toasts go.
As far as the two toasts go they were die-cut out of a white cardstock and colored with brown markers. Then to add them the “toast” texture I wet a textured rug with the COPIC colorless blender solution and pressed onto the toasts, which made them looking rough and uneven. The blender solution dissolved COPIC ink in the spots where the rug was touching them (that’s why I used a textured one). I believe a rubbing alcohol should work for this purpose too.
Then I stamped mouths onto the toaster and toasts and adhered googly eyes to make them more fun. I used small 3mm eyes on the toasts and medium 4mm on the toaster.
The background panel I made by blending the Worn Lipstick and Antique Linen Oxide Inks, spraying it with water and blotting it off after it reacted with inks.
I also stamped a sentiment onto a white cardstock stripe.
I rounded one corner of the panel and popped it up onto a white card base. Then I foam mounted all elements onto it.
Lastly I added several clear sequins.
Have a wonderful day!

Super fun cards!!

These cards are just plain darling ! Love the turquoise color on the toaster- that along with the google eyes gives it a 1950’s look.

It’s good to leave your creative comfort zone sometimes. These cards are adorable and the colour palettes are lovely.

Svitlana, my views about Monday are different to yours. I love Monday because it is when I start coming around from having my chemotherapy on a Friday. So you can see you love Fridays but Fridays to me are not so good. But all crafting it good! I am not sure whether these types of cute/animated object cards are my sort of thing either. I would not choose to make a project like this unless asked to. I do like putting faces on objects but I know that there are a lot of people who like this and think it is funny/cute etc. I love what you have done with the two projects, how you have used the Oxide inks behind them first and the cut paper at an unusual angle. TFS these with us crafters though Svitlana and I wonder whether they have put a thought in your crafting creativity mind that was in a rut? We will have to wait and see. :O) xx
