Spellbinders Fields Of Poppies. Colored with COPICs die-cut. Card by @craftwalks

Hi crafty friends!

Are you already in Spring? Accordingly to what I see in my Instagram feed many people are suffering from snow. But some are already sharing Magnolia and Sakura blossoms.
I myself like Spring. But I love winter as well, so both give me joy. As soon as it’s not summer I’m good.
Today I want to share another dramatic card made using Spellbinders Fields Of Poppies Die.

This die is an etched one, which means it can be used to die-cut, emboss and stencil. In other words you can made a die-cut using this die, then add texture to it using the same die and through die openings you can stencil it to add shading. And to tell you the truth that’s what I wanted to do initially. I made a die cut, took out embossing mat and corresponding plate, but then I looked at the die cut and thought – hm.. what an interesting shape.. let me color it.

And that’s what I did – I colored the die-cut using my COPICs. Nothing fancy, a simple basic coloring. I didn’t care about details much. Rather wanted to to be a bit whimsical.
Next I tried to apply it against a white card base. Which was ok. But I allowed myself to try it against the black one and once I did it I wowed and didn’t want to come back to the white one.
Side note. It probably sounded weird when above I mentioned “allowing” myself to use black card base. You all know how much I love dramatic cards. But they’re not very popular. Not all people like them, and those who like may be afraid to work with darker color. So I try to always use a lighter version, so more people find it useful.
In this case I simply couldn’t do it. As this field of poppies looks much much more effective against black card base.

Moving on! I heat embossed a sentiment in yellow in the top third of a top folding horizontal card base and adhered the colored die-cut underneath.

Lastly I added several clear droplets. These embellishments very my absolute favorites for a couple of years. I literally used them on every single card. Then somehow they were pushed back by Nuvo liquid droplets and other newer embellishments on the market (currently I’m keen on crystals). And I almost forgot how great these droplets look.

Have a wonderful day!

You’re right, not too many artists use a dark background for their cards, but I absolutely love it! The yellow poppies do popped and I just so love it! Thank you for sharing.
