Hello crafty friends! I’m supper exited to be a part of Ton’s Summer 2017 Release Blog Hop.
You probably came from Mayline Jung blog. If not – you may consider starting from the beginning at The Ton’s blog and see what other designers sharing. Also you have a chance to win a prize.
EAGLE
For my first card I used new amazing Eagle Stamp Set. You all know how much I love realistic stamps, and eagle is something definitely missing on the market.
Cardmaking is my major passion when it comes to my hobbies. But I have another hobby – home decor. Which I only started doing maybe 3 or 4 years ago and for some occasions I’m still not completely set. And I try not to spend a lot of money buying home decor items (since I spend so much on stamps), DIYing them instead. So the last year I was adding some items to my Americana home decor collection, there were a lot of white-red-blue painting. Including painting of a wooden eagle (3D puzzle I got from eBay). So, why I’m telling you all this here? I like to tell the story of how a card was born (if there is a story). When I saw the Eagle Stamp Set I immediately knew that want to replicate the look of my wooden eagle and make it in colors of star-spangled banner as well.
And to do this I first needed a mask. So I stamped the eagle body using brown inks onto a masking paper and then cut apart the parts I wanted in different colors.
Then I moved to stamping it in red, blue and white (and by “white” I mean gray) colors, applying masks where I needed to protect cardstock from unwanted stamping. Basically I combined masking and layered stamping.
After I finished with stamping all layers and details of the eagle – I cut it out with my scissors.
Onto a white panel I created several red stripes using thin tape for masking and red ink for inking between applied tape stripes.
I stamped a sentiment onto the panel and foam mounted it onto a deep blue card base. Finally I foam mounted the eagle onto the panel.
BEER
My second card is made using another amazing and very realistic stamp set – Beer. We all often struggle with masculine cards. This stamp set can be a solution if a man likes beer (in fact all of them do).
For my card I went with chalkboard look. I really love chalkboard and it’s been a while since I last time did it.
I started with stamping the beer onto a white cardstock. Then I masked it using a mask cut out of masking paper and inked the whole panel with black ink. I let ink to soak into the panel (there was a lot to soak). I took a sheet of paper towel, pressed in into a white pigment ink pad and rubbed the whole panel with it transferring white ink onto the panel (using paper towel gave this look of chalkboard).
I stamped the sentiment using white ink as well and foam mounted the panel onto a white card base. With this card I tried to replicate the look of those posters you can see in bars and pubs. Hopefully I was able to do this 🙂
