Hello!

Have you finished with your holiday cardmaking? Cannot believe it’s only a week till Christmas. As usual time just flew by.

For myself I should say, that I’m both finished and not. I made and sent out all cards I planned for this year. But I didn’t stop making them. As it’s always not enough time for holiday cards. Usually I continue making them into January and this way I have some reserve for the next year.

Also I’m an Orthodox Christian. We celebrate Christmas and Epiphany by Julian calendar (it’s Jan 7 and 19). So by Jan 20th I’m kinda still in the mood for holiday cards. And we usually don’t take our Christmas tree down till the end of January.

Anywho, today I want to share a card I made for the third week of Stamping Marathon “The Magic of Winter”. This week the required element is an ornament or snow ball. I was using a snow ball stamp to create ornaments pile.Learn how to stretch your stamps and make an ornaments pile on a holiday card. Card by@s_shayevichTo do this first onto a rustic white panel I white embossed several circles in form of ornaments pile. Then I made both positive and negative masks for the circle out of masking paper. Using them was masking off area around each ornament and inked inside part of them with SSS Lisptick Red ink and using an ink dauber.  To add some shimmer and make them look more similar to real ornaments I covered all of them with Clear Wink Of Stella.

Important note – Wink Of Stella moves not water-resistant ink, almost the same as water brush would do. So knowing that I would later use Wink Of Stella I made corresponding choice of ink for coloring my ornaments. SSS inks (as well as Hero Arts shadow and Wplus9, they’re the same formula) are water-resistant, that’s why I used them.Learn how to stretch your stamps and make an ornaments pile on a holiday card. The ornament with stripes I made using Versamarker, just drew lines with it and them white embossed them. Also on this ornament I added some static rubbing it with my fingers, poured white embossing powder and heat embossed it. This added such kind of frozen effect you can find on some ornaments.

I’m not sure if you can see it, but I added white embossed “crowns” (not sure how these things called) using a jar cork from Winter In Jars set. So they look a bit more like ornaments, not just balls :)

I love this! What a great idea to stretch your stamps and use some of all that embossing powder.
