Hello and welcome to Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop! With this blog hop we’re celebrating our unique crafty community. This is a two days blog hop and today is the Day 1.
You probably came from Chameleon Art Products blog. If not – you may consider starting from the beginning at Altenew Card Blog and see what other participants of this cool blog hop have created. Also there are a lot of prizes to win.
I have two holidays cards to share with you today. They’re similar and different at the same time.
CHALKBOARD
For my first card I went with a chalkboard design. Chalkboard became very popular in design and cardmaking several years ago and I got imidiatelly hooked. Since then it became one of those looks I tend to come back from time to time.
I started by stamping the wreath onto a white cardstock using the Peaceful Wreath Stamp Set. I was stamping it along with another one, which I used on the other card.
The leaves of the wreath were stamped using the Aqualicious and Teal Cave Dye Inks. For berries I used the Pinkalicious and Rubellite inks. These colors are not quite holiday traditional. But I wanted to use something different in this case.
For the chalkboard I stamped an adorable deer from the Modern Deer Stamp Set using a white ink onto a black card base. And also I swiped some paper towel inked with the white ink all along the card front. To add this look of chalked surface.
I popped the wreath onto the card and added a banner with a sentiment stamped using the Rubellite Dye Ink.
BRIGHT CLASSIC
For my second card I went with more classic color scheme, although I twisted it a bit as well taking a lighter and brighter approach. I mead that these colors can be easily used on an Easter card for example. But I feel that they work for a holiday card as well.
And if the previous card was one of those designs I do quite often and feel comfortable with – the second card is rather my attempt to work in less comfortable for me style. Light cards, bright colors and unusual color combinations is not something that I feel easily by heart.
So the wreath was stamped using the Sweet Leaf and Just Green Inks for leaves and Coral Berry and Ruby Red inks for berries.
I stamped the modern deer using the Almond Butter and Milk Chocolate Die Ink and die-cut it with the matching die.
I foam mounted a White Woodgrain panel onto a mint card base and adhered the deer onto it. Followed by foam mounting the wreath on top.
Lastly I added the sentiment made using the Halftone Holidays Stamp and Die sets.
