Altenew Build-A-Flower: Flourishing Zinnia Blog Hop + Giveaway (CLOSED)

Altenew Build-A-Flower: Flourishing Zinnia. Card by Svitlana Shayevich

Hello and welcome to Altenew Build-A-Flower: Flourishing Zinnia Blog Hop. We’re celebrating the release of September Build-A-Flower set – Flourishing Zinnia.

You probably came from Enza Gudor  blog. If not – you may consider starting from the beginning at Altenew Card Blog and see what other members of Altenew design team and guest designers have created. There are so many beautiful projects from talented designers. Also you on each stop you you have a chance to win a prize.

BUILD-A-FLOWER FLOURISHING ZINNIA

This new set features a flourishing zinnia elegant flower with five layering pieces to achieve a beautiful, detailed result. Zinnias come in a variety of colors so you can pick your favorite Altenew inks from pinks, reds, and purples, to greens, yellows, and oranges. In addition to the main flower, you can use the layered leaf image to complement your design and an encouraging sentiment to finish your card.

This special product is only sold as a set, not individually.

PROJECT

When I started making a card I wanted it to be a fall card. So I went to yellow inks to stamp the flower.

So I stamped the flower using yellow inks from Pocketful Of Sunshine Dye Ink Set and Jet Black for the flower center. I also stamped the leaves using Evergreen, Forest Glades and Frayed Leaf Dye Inks.

When it came to choosing the background I went through the ready to go backgrounds in my stash (in other words – created for another project but never made it into a project and saved for later) and found a blue one. Made by blending Ocean Waves Dye Ink onto a white panel.

Then I made a die-cut of Layered Medallions Cover Die B out of white cardstock to place between the flower and blue panel. But I didn’t like how it look. So before discarding this idea I decided to trim the outer part of the die cut (also known as a die-cut haircut :)) And in this shape it worked for me.

After that I foam mounter the panel onto a white card base, foam mounted the medallion die-cut onto the panel, followed by adhering the flower onto the medallion.

The sentiment, white embossed on black cardstock and mounted onto the card finished it off.

Your zinnia card is so pretty and colorful. I grew ten large pots of zinnias in my yard this summer from seed packets. There were easy to grow and made the prettiest fresh flower bouquets for our home (and to share with friends). Another added bonus is they attracted butterflies so win win. 🙂 Needless to say I have added this set to my want list….it needs to come live with me! Stamping zinnias would be almost as much fun as growing them! ha-ha Plus I could have them in the winter months!!! 😉

I did not recognize the background with its new haircut, but I really like how it turned out. I don’t have a die cut machine, but I’ll have to try a similar concept with my stencils. The bright yellow on the bright blue is so fun and happy; your card makes me smile looking at it. Thanks for sharing!
