Hello friends!
Summer got really cruel now. I dislike summer a lot and literally live through it. One thing that makes it easier to survive is Christmas in July. Christmas is my favorite topic in cardmaking (as it is for many of you I believe). Christmas cards in July make me somehow cooler. Also it’s a signal that “real” holiday cardmaking should be started slowly so I have enough cards when it’s time to send them out and don’t stress myself during holiday times.
With this being said I want to share with you my first holiday card of this year.
For my card I used Studio Katia Merry Poinsettia Stamp Set. I stamped the poinsettia cluster onto a watercolor panel and watercolored it in wet on wet technique. When it comes to watercolor there is not much to add to explanation 🙂
I “extended” watercoloring to the background too, making it diluted green. And while it was still wet I added splatters of green to bring more interest. The I let the piece dry and added white spray splatters.
Then I die-cut the stitched rectangle out of the panel using Studio Katia Dotted Patterns Set 1 Die Set, white embossed the sentiment and foam mounted the panel onto a white card base.
Lastly I added several clear droplets.

Seeing your beautiful poinsettia almost makes me cooler. I imagine that summer in NY is hotter than where I am in VA. We actually have a breeze here which helps! I love your card as usual! The deep reds are gorgeous with the light green.

Hi Svitlana, it is so strange that there are lots of Christmas in July events going on at present. I don’t know if that’s because we are half way there. I started my Christmas cards last year in August and did have them ready before the big day. I think that people/crafters are less stressed in July too so making Christmas cards in July is easier. I have just purchased some Bristol smooth paper 280g to use with my ARTEZA water colour pens. I haven’t used this paper before but I have heard good reports about it so I am hoping that my card designs work out well. I love that you have used the wet on wet technique – I might give that one a go on some Tim Holtz water colour paper what do you think Svitlana? The poinsettias images that you have used are amazing, they fill the card base space so well. Thank you for sharing this with us crafters. xx :O)
