Hello, friends!
This month I’m hosting the Altenew July 2018 Inspiration Challenge inviting our readers to play with one of my favorite color schemes of blues and gray.
I took this picture of The Cathedral of St. Patrick through Rockefeller Center’s Atlas statue in NYC on my way to work (I work in that area).
Recently, I made a card for the Altenew blog using the To the Moon Stamp Set and, while I was making it, I remembered how much I loved this set but for some reason forgot about it. I really wanted to play with it again soon. So I decided to use this set for my card, especially since a round object would replicate the shape of the world Atlas is carrying on its shoulders.
I started making the card by stamping the moon onto a Solar White Cardstock using the Silver Stone and Industrial Diamond Dye Inks. I skipped stamping the very bottom most solid layer of the moon. After stamping, I die-cut the moon using a circle die from the Halftone Circles Nesting Die Set.
Next, I stamped several magnolias using the Build-A-Flower: Magnolia Stamp Set and Sea Breeze, Turquoise, Tide Blue, and Starlight Dye Inks. I made some flowers darker and some lighter using lighter and darker triplets of the above mentioned blue inks.
After that, they were die-cut using the matching die from the Build-A-Flower Set. Then I cut apart all the flowers (originally, they were as a branch of two flowers).
I made a panel out of a Woodgrain White Paper and colored it with the Starlight Dye Ink, using a direct-to-paper technique (in other words – I swiped the ink pad onto the panel until it is colored completely). After that, I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base.
Next, I glued the moon and flowers onto the panel.
I stamped the word You onto the moon using Jet Black Dye Ink and adhered the rest of the sentiment, which was white embossed onto a Jet Black Cardstock strip, below it.
Lastly, I added several white crystals to accentuate the card.
Cannot wait to see what you make for this month’s Inspiration Challenge!

So gorgeous! I love the moon!!

The moon looks so good against the blue woodgrained background. I would not have thought of a moon and magnolias, but it works!

Svitlana, I love the colour combo grey and blue and it goes so well with the elements you have chosen for your project too. I hope that I can come up with something that will be as good for the Inspiration Challenge. :O)
