Essentials by Ellen October Release Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to Essentials by Ellen October Release Blog Hop! I’m thankful to be invited to join the blog hop, celebrating new release.

You probably came from LauraJane Head. And your next stop will be Lea Lawson.

I will be sharing three cards made using newly released stamp set – Thistle by Julie Ebersole. This is a very interesting set. It’s done in so to speak sketchy style and works well with both stamping and faux watercolor. It includes several images to build a thistle as well as an acorn head that can be used along with the large thistle head to build an acorn.

And here are my cards I made using this set.

For my first card I wanted to create kind of fall mood, maybe a cold and foggy fall morning…

First I stamped the background onto a white panel by first stamping several thistles using Hero Arts Dusty Blue ink and then inking over using the same ink.

Then I stamped “forefront”part of the design by stamping with Hero Arts Ombre Metallic Rust ink. I also added some splatter of NUVO Fresh Copper Mousse (which I diluted with water to be able to splatter).

I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base and adhered a white stripe with a sentiment from Snailed It by Julie Ebersole Stamp Set stamped with Hero Arts Ombre Metallic Rust ink.

My second card is very simple one-layer one. Here I stamped the thistle using Altenew Crimson, Industrial Diamond and Pure Graphite inks onto a white card base. You can see here the second layer of the large head.

I stamped a sentiment from Snailed It by Julie Ebersole Stamp Set and added some black splatters using a black spray.

And of course since it’s October – I had to create a fall card as well. This one is me favorite.

First I stamped the wreath using a twig stamp from Thistle by Julie Ebersole Stamp Set with Hero Arts Cup O’Joe Ink onto a white panel.

I stamped two acorns using Hero Arts Pumpkin Pie and Cup O’Joe inks. As well as several leaves from Thistle  and Snailed It stamp sets using Hero Arts Ombre Butter to Orange and Ruby to Royal Red inks.

I then die-cut all elements using matching dies from Thistle  and Snailed It die sets and adhered them onto the panel forming a cluster.

Lastly I stamped the sentiment, added several NUVO Dark Walnut and Autumn Red droplets and adhered the panel onto a brown card base.

GET HOPPING!

The next stop in the blog hop will be Lea Lawson.

I love the colors of fall like so many people do. Here in the Houston area we really don’t see many colors so I’m really grateful for cards like yours! Thank you for sharing your beautiful card!

Никогда не думала, что чертополох может быть таким хорошеньким в штампах! Особенно я балдею от первой открытки – такая игра теней и техник!

The first card really does feel like a foggy, frosty fall morning with the sun struggling to shine through and dead thistles. It’s beautiful. I’d love to be able to convey feelings with a simple design like that in my cards. The wreath is a clever use of the stem.
