Altenew July 2017 Release Blog Hop + Giveaway. Video

Altenew July 2017 Reelase. Cards by @craftwalks

Hello and welcome to Altenew July 2017 Release Blog Hop. We are celebrating the release of new amazing stamps, dies and yummy inks!

You probably came from Mindy Baxter blog. If not – you may consider starting from the beginning at Altenew Card Blog and see what other members of Altenew design team and guest designers sharing, also you have a chance to win a prize.

I made four cards using new supplies.

PRETTY PANSIES

Pansies are very pretty and colorful flowers. Using new Pretty Pansies set you can get a quite realistic results.

To make this card I first stamped flowers and leaves onto a Solar White cardstock. Many flowers and leaves as you can see. There was a lot of stamping, since each element has 3-4 layers. With layered stamps, especially if you need to stamp many elements, you will not always get a quick card. I like stamping a lot, so it isn’t a problem for me, rather a therapy. And the result is totally worth it.

Besides one quality of Altenew die inks helped to make things faster. Almost all of them do not stain stamps and do not leave any ink residue on stamp after cleaning it (only a couple of them do).

You may faced such problem with other inks, which may stain stamps and/or leave residue. Working with such inks you need to be conscious about it and work around this fact. Like moving from lighter to darker when work with one stamp and inks or different colors. With Altenew inks I didn’t need to care about it. I positioned one stamp, mounted it to the MISTI lid and then stamped onto different pieces of white cardstock in different colors. Then I positioned another layer and stamped it several times changing cardstock pieces and inks. I was moving from yellow to pink, from pink to blue and the other way around and you can see that I got stamp impressions of true colors. No ink mixing happened.

To stamp flowers I used newly released inks: Pocketful Of Sunshine (Citrus Burst, Fresh Lemon, Honey Drizzle, Maple Yellow), Cherry Blossom (Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious, Rubellite, Razzleberry) and Deep Blue Seas (Sea Breeze, Turquoise, Tide Blue,  Starlight). On couple of blue pansies I started stamping the base layer from Turquoise ink, stamped the next two layers using Tide Blue and  Starlight and made the most top layer in black. This way I got blue pansies of different intensity using the same set of blue inks.

As far as leaves go – I used Evergreen, Forest Glades, Frayed Leaf inks to stamp them, alternating different inks stamping leaves layers to get them of different shades.

After that I die cut all flowers and leaves using the matching dies.

I made an A2 card base out of Dark Gray cardstock and stamped several pansies onto it using Silver Stone and Industrial Diamond  inks. I only stamped the outline and one other layer, to get them more “background-y”.

Next I created kind of field of pansies by adhering all flower and leaves onto the card base. Some elements are adhered flat, some – foam mounted.

For the sentiment I die-cut a word love using a die from Script Words set and adhered it kind of in between of greenery. All my die-cuts have white borders around the stamped images. And stand out against the gray card base. In order to bring some more white to the card to so to speak establish that white is eligible here – I opted the word die cut to be white.

For accents I added several Blue Slate sequins.

INDOOR GARDEN

The next card is made using new Indoor Garden stamp set. I just love the style of it – whimsical and fun.

I made a very light and simple card using this set.

Clean and simple card with pop of color using Altenew Indoor Garden stamp set and wood paper. Card by @craftwalks

First I stamped several potted plants using Jet BlackMoss, Olive, FirebrickAutumn Blaze, Sea Breeze and Turquoise inks and then die-cut them with matching dies.

Then I stamped the base (or whatever is that “table like thing” is called). The original stamp of this thing is pretty wide, I wanted it to be shorter. So I used partial stamping to make it shorter. First I inked one half of the stamp and stamp it. And then shifted it, inked the other side and stamp it again. Then I die cut it with matching die using partial die-cutting technique.

I cut a panel out of Solar White cardstock and cut a window in it. I used a circle die to cut a window. But I only partially die cut the circle, leaving the bottom part not cut. Then I finished of the die-cut by cutting with my craft knife.

The sentiment from Parrot Paradise stamp set was stamped in black below.

I made an A2 card base made out of Solar White cardstock, cut and a piece of Birch Wood cardstock (slightly bigger then the panel window) and adhered it onto the card base in the spot where the panel window would be.

Next I foam mounted the panel in question. And then foam mounted all elements, creating an indoor garden scene.

Finally I added several clear droplets and called it a card.

HALLOWEEN WITH TREE RING DIE

If you are following me for a while – you may know it already. If you’re new here – welcome! There is one thing you should know about me. I have many craft obsessions – colors, themes or textures that make me thrill. Wood is one of them. And the new Tree Ring die is right up my alley. Altenew Tree Ring stencil already stole my heart before. And now this die – [a smile with heart eyes here].

All being said can sound odd considering the card below ;). Well, I just had to tell a couple of words about this amazing die that I love so much. Soon I’ll do a project using it as a tree ring.

But today I want to show something different. Back when I was making a card with the stencil I saw a spider web in this design. So I decided to stretch this die and use it in this role.

I made two die cuts our of Jet Black cardstock and cut the outer part. I also cut kind of peaks at the ends of radial lines. Then I cut a panel out of Solar White cardstock and inked it using Midnight Violet and Autumn Blaze inks. Then I adhered webs onto the panel and cut all the excess beyond the edges of the panel.

For the sentiment I die cut letters for boo word out of the same Jet Black cardstock using dies from Calligraphy Alpha die set. And adhered them in the bottom part of the panel. The font of this set is not intended to be Halloweeny, but in black along with spider webs I think it looks like a spooky one 😉

To finish my card off I adhered the panel onto a black card base and added several sequins from Wicked Fusion.

BLOOMING BOUQUET

My last card is made using gorgeous Blooming Bouquet stamp set. This set is very versatile. You can use the biggest stamp from it and just stamp or heat emboss it, add a sentiment and with no effort get a very beautiful and elegant card. Of if you like to sit and play and spend some time for a card, you can mix and match images from this set, use masking, coloring  – you name it!

My card is on a bit complicated side. I used two ways of masking here – using masking liquid and clear embossing. I even filmed a video for this card, it was last minute decision and I still need to add a voice over to it. I will add it to this post later today.

Beautiful Altenew Blooming Bouquet made in yellow and white onto a gray background. Two ways of masking is used here. Clear embossing and masking liquid. Card by @craftwalks

First I stamped the main image onto a Solar White cardstock panel using Limestone ink and then covered the stamped design using masking liquid. I added some splatters with Warm Sunshine Metallic Shimmer spray and colored then with Crystal Clear embossing powder.

Beautiful Altenew Blooming Bouquet made in yellow and white onto a gray background. Two ways of masking is used here. Clear embossing and masking liquid. Card by @craftwalks

Then I inked the whole panel using Silver Stone ink. Clear embossing resisted ink and yellow splatters stayed stand out onto a gray background.

I removed the masking liquid using Pik-Up tool and colored the image with COPIC markers. I colored flowers in orange-yellow shades and leaves I made “white” (to be more exact – white with cool gray shadows). I white emboss the bouquet using Pure White embossing powder. Along with adding some white embossed dots here and there. To drew dots I was using Versamarker. And the main reason I decided to add them is the fact, that I made an epic fail and got some areas of my background clear embossed (on the step when I was clear embossing splatters). So I added some more dots and white embossing mess to kind of work around this failure.

To finish my card off I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base, added a sentiment and several clear droplets.

Starting with the softer gray makes it look like you fussy cut all those intricate leaves and branches out of vellum–a very pretty look. And thank you for showing the mistakes as well as the fixes–so helpful for the rest of us clumsy-fingered, inky handed, glitter-coated cardmaking wannabe’s.
