Studio Katia • Valentine Hearts

Hi there! I’m over at Studio Katia blog today sharing a simple Valentine card using Sweet Heart Candy Stamp Set.Valentine cards are always the biggest struggle for me. I’m one of those people who rare experiment with color combos and goes with a traditional one. But traditional colors for Valentine are too cheesy for me. It’s easy to create rather a tasteless card within these colors.

I’m learning how to work with non traditional colors and maybe one day I will do it better. By the way, if you struggle with this too, I encourage you to check out my dear friend Yana (although I’m sure you’re already following her). She’s a genius when it comes to using unusual colors (well, she’s genius in everything paper crafting related).

For today’s card I decided to start small. Traditional red and whites, which I then incorporated into a settled background.

To start off I die cut a creative square out of Neenah Solar White cardstock and stamped two hearts from Sweet Heart Candy set using SSS Schoolhouse Red ink. I then made a girl and boy out of them by white embossing smiley faces.Next I stamped a sentiment using a stamp from the same set with Altenew Dark Chocolate ink.

I cut and scored a card base out of Altenew Parchment cardstock and stamped lots of sentiments from the same set also using Altenew Dark Chocolate ink. This set has so many sentiments, for all your Valentine and love needs. There are some classic ones as well as fun and corky.I made the card base a half an inch narrower then an A2 size for it to be more proportional with the creative square. Which I then foam mounted onto the base. Lastly I added several Crystal Clear sequins and tied a twine around the base.

I like how kraft with brown stamping background tones down the red hearts. Although I’m still far away from easily creating not cheesy and tasteless Valentine cards 😉
