Hi there! Today I’m sharing a card made using new stamp from Lesia Zgharda January release.
The new release has two amazing sets to create a cake. One I showed recently here, and another one Cake K029 I’m showing today.
Originally this stamp set creates a tree layer cake, but I decided to take a step further and create 6 layers, to get a tall rainbow cake. I did it by applying tape (any tape will work here) onto a stamp to mask two layers I don’t want to be inked in each run, then inking them up, removing the tape (this is important, I tend to forget it and ruin my work) and then stamping it. I was using my mini MISTI to stamp precisely, but it can be done without MISTI, especially if you have a good eye. I don’t, so in my case MISTI is very handy.
I was using my Memento Luxe inks for stamping (listed all colors below). These are pigment inks, I should say very good pigment inks. Sadly I don’t use them very often. I tend to grab dye inks in most cases. They’re more versatile and suitable for many techniques (and I’m a big fan of techniques). But it doesn’t mean that I don’t like my pigments. For this card I decided to give them some love. They’re so bright and juicy (even though I got them like two or three years ago). After stamping all cake layers I moved to creating its filing and icing. Which I did by white embossing them. As you can see filling stamp is a big longer then the cake, so even if you stamp some layer a bit offset – it will be them hidden with filling. MISTI is not a must have in this case really.
The cake pedestal was also made by white embossing. It may be not very noticeable on a white cardstock (but it is quite noticeable in a real life). But I wanted it to be white anyways, to coordinate with the cake. I also think embossing works better then stamping to imitate cake filling, icing and porcelain pedestal. After I finished with creating my cake I cut it out with scissors.
I cut a scored and A2 card base out of cardstock and flicked some COPIC opaque white. It’s such an interesting product, I just got it recently and still need to play with it to know better. But so far it’s the most opaque white product I ever used. It dries into kind of plastic droplets, that are 100% opaque. Using white spray or even paint usually gives a semi-transparent result. This one is not. And it’s a bit dimensional. Of course it can’t be used as a liquid enamel drops of ideal shape. But if you want such imperfect one – take a look at this product.
Next I cut a vellum panel sizing a bit smaller than the card base and white embossed a sentiment from Phrases TA135 set in the bottom center. Then I mounted my cake onto it. I used thick glue dots, as didn’t want any adhesive of color to be seen if you from the side. Before mounting the cake I placed some tangled silver string in the place I planned to have the cake. Added several silver flat sequins.
Finally I adhered the vellum panel onto the card base, putting adhesive (Ranger Multi Medium Matte) underneath sequins and cake, so it’s hidden.
So this is the story of creating this rainbow cake card.

This is a really sweet card, so pretty and also stylish. The stripey layer cake is quite mouthwatering! Loving the tangle of thread and the vellum which add a very distinctive touch. Thanks for the inspiration!
